Peräpohjola Folk High School in a Nutshell
We are a Grundtvig-inspired folk high school in Tornio. For over 120 years, we have provided education in a safe environment where genuine connections are fostered. We are an educational institution where everyone’s background, story, and hopes for the future are taken into account. Studying with us supports growth, well-being and inclusion.
We offer high-quality education and personalized guidance to young people and adults who are seeking direction, strengthening their skills, or building a new path toward further education and working life.

We offer diverse education for different stages of life and needs:

- general study year for post-comprehensive school students

International Co-operation
International co-operation is an important part of our operations and development. In line with our strategy, we aim to operate within an international network and build long-term partnerships with educational institutions and organizations in various countries
We are looking for new international partners and are open to various forms of collaboration, such as student and staff exchanges, joint training programs, projects, and development work.
We offer international guests a wide range of opportunities to learn about Finnish education and pedagogy. We offer for example:
- Adult education teacher training course: Digital Tools in Phenomenon-Based Learning: Experiential Education in Lapland (EPALE)
- Northern Skills Finland Education – customized year-round school camps and study visits
How We Learn and Teach
Learning at Peräpohjola Folk High School is student-centered and personalized. It is important to us that every student is seen and heard.
